Behind the Scenes: On My Desk

by ClearanceCharms

Sometimes it’s nice to reflect on the space you live (and work) in and how it reflects what you have to say to the world. In my case, my office is filled to the brim with everything I need daily, plus a few sweet snacks & motivational reminders. It’s a cozy space that I often share with my giant Great Dane puppy & several Clearance Charms staffers brainstorming our next idea.

Let’s talk priorities: you’ll often find three pairs of “dog walking” boots, flats & a rather fabulous set of heels under my desk. And I absolutely can not function without The List. It’s divided into sections so I can focus easily on the tasks (sssss) at hand. Here’s a little peak into where I spend most of my days…

I absolutely adore my desk, which is actually the Parsons Dining Table from West Elm. I need a massive space to hold all my stuff.  We decorated our whole office with white furniture, it looks ultra sophisticated en masse. My amaaazing hand-carved bookshelf originated in Indonesia and was scooped up at GDC Home in Mount Pleasant. It’s really a touch too big for the space but I loved it the moment I saw it. I also love the way the stark white of my table contrasts with the old-world carvings.

My office is filled with inspiration andfunction. My Buddha bookends + yoga dog calendar always make me happy, even on a stormy day. You can usually find magazines on their way to the gym and a Starbucks Mocha (decaf of course).

The infamous List. I can’t function without it. This champagne cork is from the first day we moved into the office.

My motivation comes in the form of a pen cup. Just a little reminder that I want to look (and feel) hot in that little bikini next month.  Don’t you just love this carved stone box I got from Home Goods? Gotta love that place. This bracelet is one of my personal favorite designs from Clearance Charms, you’ve probably seen it before!

A Valentine DIY

by ClearanceCharms

This Valentine’s Day I thought I would do something a little more personal for my Mister. Not usually one to take on crafty projects, I was uber inspired by two sweet DIYs I stumbled upon on Pinterest. (Don’t you just love that place?) I decided to take my project a little bit further and combine the two projects, so here’s my take on this lovely idea. I hope you enjoy!

Step One: Think about the places that are important to you and your hunnie and select a frame size. I want to use four hearts, so I chose this beautiful 12×12 “Stacked Frame” from Etsy vendor Rusty Mill. Depending on how many keys/hearts/locations you want to use, your size can vary. I found that four locations also works well in an 8×10 but I wanted to use larger hearts.

Step Two: Layout your frame. I have four homes that I want to include so I tested a few different sizes of heart cutouts for my layout and picked my favorites. I googled “heart clip art” and found a shape that I prefer and printed it in various sizes – 3×5, 4×6, 5×7 and then I ended up shrinking the 5×7 one just slightly to make my perfect ♥.

Step Three: Fill your hearts! I love the map cutouts from my inspirational photo but I wanted to be a bit more personal. I printed 5×7 photos of each of our four homes. No need for glossy photo paper, I want them to look more vintage-esque.

Step Four: Cut out your ♥s. I traced my perfectly adorable heart clip art over my four printed pictures then grabbed my scissors.

Step Five: Glue your heart cutouts to a background sheet, colored stock paper welcome! I used a natural canvas scrapbook background (12×12 – perfect!) and 3M Super 77 Spray Adhesive. (That stuff is the jam. Extra sticky, works with every fabric/surface and doesn’t glue me to my desk.) Then write your cute little descriptions underneath each heart.

Step Six: Glue the keys to the corresponding homes right on top of the photo hearts. Use a super strong glue so you don’t have to use a lot of liquid and ruin the photos. I used the 3M spray for this as well but if I was at home I would have used tiny dabs of Crazy Glue to be tidier.

And we’re done! So excited to hang this in our new home. Enjoy!

Notes: My polish color is Turqoise & Caicos by Essie.

And yes, these are iPhone photos – left my camera at home!

I LOVE my distressed frame from Rusty Mill; but I’m ordering it in a brushed white instead since the finished product is a little more aqua than anticipated and my home’s walls are a stealy blue. However, this aqua one will look beautiful with a snapshot of our beachside adventures!

Our wall color is Autumn Fog by Valspar.

Meet Your Staff: Cheri

by ClearanceCharms

We pride ourselves on knowing our customers well and want you to know us too!  You trust us with not only your charms, but your hopes, wishes and fears as well – that’s not something we take lightly!

In this series of posts, you’ll get to meet your happy Clearance Charms staff!  These women and men are the friendly voices on the other end of the line when you have a question, they’re the answer to your email at 10pm on a Saturday, they’re the ones who lovingly and precisely pack and ship your order.

Just for you, our wonderful customers, here’s a sneak peak at just who Your Staff is!

Here at Clearance Charms, Cheri is a very important part of our team. As Production Coordinator, Cheri manages all aspects of order fulfillment. Cheri oversees that every bead is in impeccable shape before it is packaged and shipped out to our wonderful customers. She also helps with customer service and any other tasks that need to be completed throughout our busy days. She is a very friendly and outgoing person with a very uplifting and positive attitude. Cheri is also a very talented bracelet designer as you can see from this fabulous creation she has made!

 Cheri says;

I grew up in Wilmington NC and attended college at North Carolina State University. My passion for the beach and the desire to be around beautiful surroundings is what brought me here to Charleston, South Carolina. One of my favorite pastimes is taking a ride around the neighborhood to local restaurants and the beach on the tandem bicycle I share with the love of my life. I also enjoy spending time with my two very silly yet adorable nieces who love going to the park and indulging in pink ice cream with their Auntie! On the weekends if I am not on the beach soaking up some much needed sunshine I can be found cuddled up on the couch taking a cat nap with my kittens.

The concept behind the design of my bracelet stems from all things I surround myself with: warm whimsical days and love that is here to stay.

Her fabulous creation is made of a multitude of gorgeous beads and charms using shades of green, vibrant citrus and shimmering white, with accents of silver. Do you love it!? Do you have to have it!?

Meet Your Staff: Jen

by ClearanceCharms

We pride ourselves on knowing our customers well and want you to know us too!  You trust us with not only your charms, but your hopes, wishes and fears as well – that’s not something we take lightly!

In this series of posts, you’ll get to meet your happy Clearance Charms staff!  These women and men are the friendly voices on the other end of the line when you have a question, they’re the answer to your email at 10pm on a Saturday, they’re the ones who lovingly and precisely pack and ship your order.

Just for you, our wonderful customers, here’s a sneak peak at just who Your Staff is!

Here at Clearance Charms, Jen has an array of tasks that she completes on a daily basis. One of her most important duties includes filling and processing orders for our wonderful customers.  She receives the orders; hand selects the beads, and packages with tender care so your coveted charms arrive without a glitch.  Jen is a great support system for the company and works within many different areas of Clearance Charms.   Perhaps her greatest asset to our buzzing office is her constant enthusiasm.  She is the eternal optimist and is sure to bring a smile to even the most tedious project.  Jen is also a very talented bracelet designer and photographer as you can see from this beautiful creation she has made.  She is a very happy and warm person with a unique style that shows through in this gorgeous bracelet.  Simply magnificent!

 Jen says;

I was born and raised a West Virginia girl. After majoring in nutrition at WVU, I eagerly set out on those “country roads” and made my way to the sweet sunny south.  I’ve lived here in Charleston for about 6 years and I’ve loved every minute of it! I have always been interested in design of some nature, be it painting, decorating, fashion, or jewelry.  When I am not at work surrounded by beautiful beads and artistic people, most of my time is spent at the beach – either frolicking with my four-legged friends, going for an evening run or dancing like a dolphin through the waves.  Much of my inspiration comes from the ocean and its influence on the fluidity of existence.  So this begins to define the evolution of my bracelet design.

Her gorgeous creation is made of a multitude of flowing beads and charms using shades of blue, brown, white, champagne, and loads of sparkle. It is a decadent piece that is sure to impress!  Do you love it!?  Do you just simply have to have it!? Call us at Clearance Charms (1-800-409-1772) or email info@clearancecharms.com to purchase this fantastic bracelet at 20% off – for a limited time only!

Ready for Easter at Clearance Charms!

by ClearanceCharms

Here at Clearance Charms we all share a common love for Spring; the warmer weather, freshly bloomed flowers, and brightly colored cotton dresses. I must admit though, there is one thing that stands above the rest, Easter candy!

As we eagerly anticipate the Easter holiday, we have the delicious candy to keep us company. Nothing is better than a caramel filled egg or a marshmallow chick, and we are never lacking on candy at the office to keep us plump and happy. A current favorite amongst the staff are Cadbury mini easter eggs. The malted chocolate eggs are so addictive we have to hide the bag sometimes!

The candy only comes around once a year so we feel the need to indulge before the holiday is over and we can no longer get our Easter candy fix. There are only 24 more days until Easter so forget about those diets, or thoughts that you dont need any; of course you do! Remember, it’s the little things in life. So while you indulge in chocolatey goodness, check out the new ‘Easter’ section on Clearance Charms for your Easter beads and charms fix! I leave you with a quote that seems far too true.

“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.” -Charles Schultz

Bon appetit!
